MAHATMA GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATION

CELEBRATING BAPU’S BIRTHDAY

Indira Gandhi Group of Institutions celebrated the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi on 2nd October 2017 through “Shramdaan”. Bapu always propagated hygiene, cleanliness, self-help and hard work. His teachings inspired our students to follow in his footsteps. The nursing students participated in the activity enthusiastically and carried out a cleanliness and beautification drive of the college premises.

The Shramdaan activity was conducted from 7:00 am to 10:00 am wherein the students divided themselves into different groups and allocated lanes of the school and hospital for executing the designated work. The students were excited to turn their daily surroundings into sparkling clean areas. The students washed and cleaned the classrooms, reception area and garden surrounding the IGSCON and IGIPS building. They dusted the furniture, windows and library premises.  Waste material like poly bags, wrapping papers and other dirty materials were removed. The garden area was cleared of weeds, dead grass and dirt; saplings were planted by the students to add to the greenery.

We also created public awareness about keeping the surroundings clean, importance of cleanliness and hygienic surroundings.

The aim behind the Shramdaan Program was:

  • To motivate students to maintain hygienic conditions in their surroundings.
  • To emphasize on the importance of clean and green surroundings (plantation)
  • To create awareness about the different types of epidemics and diseases that break out due to unclean surroundings.
