On the occasion of World Blood Donor’s Day ,IGGI organised awareness cum education campaign.
| Highlight of the events were: |
☆ All the institutional bodies of IGGI participated with equal zeal and enthusiasm towards making this event a success.
★ The day started with the collection of blood group and RH- factors of all the students, faculty and employees of Indira Gandhi Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IGIPS) and Indira Gandhi School & College of Nursing (IGSCON). This was done to ensure the availability of volunteers for blood donation in case of any emergency. It would also help the individual to know their blood group which can come in handy in any critical situation. A few faculty members and students from IGSCON made voluntary blood donation setting a good example for other students to follow.
☆ Students and faculty from IGSCON including Principal Dr. E. Bhaskar Raj educated the patients and their attendees about the benefits of blood donation. Students also informed them about Do’s and Don’ts of blood donation and the importance of sourcing blood from recognized blood banks. Overall response from the audience present at that time was encouraging.
★ IGIPS too conducted events in their Institute regarding blood donation and created awareness among the younger generation about the subject. Their senior faculty Mr. Shankar Pradhan and Mr. Vijay counseled students about the importance and apprehensions associated with voluntary blood donation. This was followed by a slideshow presentation about technicalities and significance of blood donation.
☆ A quiz competition on anatomy and physiology along with hematology was also organized by Vice-Principal Dr. S.P. Singh. The day was concluded by hosting a poster competition for students wherein few of the best posters were selected to be displayed in the vicinity of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital Blood Bank.
